| Trust gift creates endowed scholarship |
Richard C. Balmer '36 was the longest tenured employee when he retired from General Motors after 52 years of service. He also arranged a big boost for Kettering and its students by providing an estate gift to establish an endowed scholarship. Scholarships make the difference in many cases as to whether a student can afford to study at Kettering. No longer subsidized by GM, the school is highly dependent on tuition which now ranges around $27,000 annually. The Richard C. Balmer Scholarship will ease the financial burden and help launch innumerable highly qualified and experienced graduates who will be forever grateful.
